As birth workers, we have to keep our hearts ready for the emotional moments and questions we face walking beside you and your family. We help some families through miscarriage, grief, utmost joy of birth, the fears of new parenthood and extreme emotional pain... and this just scrapes the very top of the things we encounter on a regular basis. Each of these intimate encounters is a deep honor to witness and help navigate, but it calls on our emotions to hold space, our sharp brains to provide empowering information (even at 2am), our emotional fortitude to open up room for the difficult conversations, and our energy for empathy, common sense, and strength at its highest for each of your experiences. Birth frequently calls us away from needed sleep, vacations, birthday parties, intimate time with our partners, first days of school, anniversary celebrations, and our sick kiddos. It is one of the most rewarding jobs ever, but it is also a huge sacrifice for our hearts and our families.
Here at Saddlepeak Birth we want you to feel comfortable with our whole team and find comfort in know you have a tribe around you. I always have a backup in case a human circumstance arises in my world and can't make your birth. I want you to know you have a team that you know that can step in and make sure your birth is powerful and amazing. I rarely see a backup have to step in, however, it does happen. Some of these circumstances may be illness, death in the family, another baby is on the way already, or an act of God finds them. I am only human, and I never, ever want your family lacking support for your incredible day. Another reason may be that I am out of town or have a family emergency that calls me away. For these times I will call in a backup doula to be on call in case your big birth day finds you and I am out of town. Whomever is walking beside you, I promise your birth will be empowered and powerful!
