Why I love home birth

I am an aspiring home birth midwife here in the Gallatin Valley and surrounding areas. I wanted to take you on a small road trip through my midwifery training, and why I am so passionate about home birth. As I learn all of the skills needed to practice on my own, as a midwife, I get the opportunity to serve mothers as a home birth midwifery assistant and a birth doula. My favorite thing, at this moment, in my studies is the beautiful quiet time I get to have on the highways in Montana, followed by the visits with our clients. Driving to client's homes and experiencing their every day lives, continues to bring a smile to my face.

After my long drives, I get invited into their sacred space. Their homes are inviting and usually have touches that scream about their unique flair. I love walking through their gardens, seeing their handmade toys, hearing their music, and listening to their hearts. Many times we end up lounging on their beds or circled up in their living rooms. Coffee is always a must, as it keeps my body warm and my heart happy. Coffee, love, passionate hearts, brilliant midwives, precious babies, and long Montana drives are just a few of the perks. I love home birth and cannot wait until I get to be called a midwife in just a few short months. Once I make it through this beautiful journey, I will get to do what I love every day!!! I am so very excited!
